was established in August 1993 with the goal of guiding its members, recruiting from various law enforcement agencies, and supporting youth athletic programs. Additionally, it aims to assist the community through workshops and the distribution of vital information.
NYDO was founded by officers of Dominican descent who recognized the need for greater representation of their cultural values and commitment to the community. Beyond recruitment and mentorship, the organization also strives to enlighten the community and serve as a positive role model for the youth.
NYDO is a duly sanctioned fraternal organization for the NYPD and NYCD; welcoming active and retired members from all local, state and federal law enforcement agencies of all ethnic backgrounds.
NYDO serves to enlighten our community about Law Enforcement and to serve as role models to our youth, addressing our community needs both here - where we serve, and back in the Dominican Republic - where many of our families remain.
NYDO serves as a network base, facilitating the dissemination of information between Law Enforcement agencies, while also helping and promoting positive interactions by members of the community
and Law Enforcement.
